Dubai has no shortage of people who can shoot a nice reel. What is rare is a team that knows why each piece exists, who it is for and what it should lead to. Before you compare portfolios, it helps to know what you are actually buying.
Agency, freelancers or in house?
- Freelancers work well for one off shoots or a single skill, such as a photographer for a product launch. You manage the planning, the briefs and the schedule yourself.
- An in house creator gives you speed and someone who knows the brand deeply, but one person rarely covers strategy, filming, editing, design and copy at a high level, and you carry the salary, visa and equipment.
- A content creation agency brings planning, production, editing and design under one roof, with a team that can scale up for launches and campaigns. It suits brands that post consistently and want the content tied to ads and results.
What a good monthly content plan includes
- A clear goal for the month, such as bookings, store visits, leads or launch awareness, and the content mix that serves it.
- Content pillars that match how your customers decide: proof, education, behind the scenes, offers and people.
- A shoot plan that gets the most out of each production day, with reels, photos and stories captured together.
- Versions made for each platform: Reels and TikTok in vertical, LinkedIn for B2B, and ad creative cut for paid campaigns.
- Captions written for the UAE audience, with Arabic where it helps.
- A monthly report that says what worked, what didn't and what changes next month.
Questions to ask before you sign
- Can you show work and results for a business like ours, not only for big brands?
- Who plans the content, who shoots it and who edits it? Will we deal with the same people every month?
- How many shoot days and finished pieces are included, and how many revisions?
- Do you also run the ads, or will we need another agency to put the content in front of people?
- Who owns the raw footage and the final files?
- How do you work with influencers and UGC creators, and do you check their UAE Advertiser Permits?
Red flags
- A price per post with no plan behind it.
- Portfolios full of trends and effects, with no mention of what the content achieved.
- No clear answer on who owns the footage.
- Reporting that only shows likes and follower growth.
- Using creators without checking their permits, which puts your brand's name next to non compliant content.
How to judge results
Look past views. Track saves, shares, profile visits, website clicks and, above all, the enquiries and sales that follow. Content that also performs as ad creative is usually the content that is working. A good agency will tell you which formats to drop as readily as which ones to scale.
